International grant competition opens to overseas applicants

International grant competition opens to overseas applicants

Applications opened on 1 October 2026 for a new international competition offering grants for projects with social impact. Funding for the competition was allocated by decision of the President of Russia.

Eligible applicants include citizens of other countries aged 18 or over and non-profit organisations registered outside Russia. There are three funding strands. The first supports the creation and distribution of public-interest content, including educational and popular-science material, as well as cultural, family-focused and professional content. The aim is to help people in Russia and other countries learn more about one another. Both individuals and non-profits can apply under this strand.

The other two strands are open exclusively to non-profits based outside Russia. One supports projects focused on wildlife conservation and biodiversity. The other backs initiatives supporting parent, family and patient groups, with an emphasis on sharing experience with partners in Russia.

Projects can run during the 12-month period from 1 December 2026 to 30 November 2027. Grants are capped at RUB 3 million for individuals and RUB 5 million for non-profits.

Applications must be submitted online through the competition’s official website. Each applicant can submit up to three different projects, but only one can receive a grant.

The competition rules and answers to frequently asked questions are available on the website.
